Site Collection Administrator
To be able to install LiveTiles you need to make sure that you have an account with Site Collection Administrator permissions. If you do not know what this means or do not have the permissions please contact your SharePoint or Office365 Admin.
Installing on SharePoint 2013 or 2016
If you are installing LiveTiles SharePoint on SharePoint Online (Office 365) then follow the steps below. If you are installing LiveTiles SharePoint on SharePoint 2013 or 2016 (on-premises) you will need to follow this article to set up your environment for apps.
Check that the Custom Scripts option is turned on for your SharePoint tenant.
If the settings are both set to Allow, move to App Catalog.
If set to Prevent change them to Allow for both Custom Script options. Click OK
This setting change can take up to 24 hours to apply. If you require it to have an immediate effect you can use the SharePoint Online Management Tool to change the setting:
Use the SharePoint Online Management Tool to execute the following PowerShell commands to turn on Allow Custom Scripting for the tenant.
(Download the Management tool at: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=35588)
Enter URL for the SharePoint admin site: https://<yourdomain>-admin.sharepoint.com
Enter tenant admin username and password:
(note: the username is in the format admin@<yourdomain>.onmicrosoft.com)
Set-SPOsite <https://<yourdomain>.sharepoint.com> -DenyAddAndCustomizePages 0
Note: If instead you would only like to enable custom scripting for an individual site collection, use the following command instead:
Set-SPOsite <SiteURL> -DenyAddAndCustomizePages 0
You also need to make sure the custom scripting setting in the admin portal matches what you set usingPowerShell or the site collection setting may be overridden again in the next 24 hours
The LiveTiles Design Manager app is deployed via the SharePoint organisation app catalog.
If you do not already have an app catalog in your Office 365 tenant you will need to create one.
Go to the SharePoint Admin centre using the link in the portal left-hand menu
Under ADMIN Click SharePoint:
Click App Catalog
Select “Create a new app catalog site” and click OK
Configure the app catalog as you wish and click OK
