Introduction

QnA Maker is a Microsoft product that lets you make a simple question-and-answer knowledge-base. QnA Maker is used for the QnA ability of the LiveTiles Bots product.

QnA Editor is a LiveTiles product that adds a layer of functionality and improved user experience to a QnA Maker service. The QnA Editor helps you to easily add interactive, rich content cards to your bot, such as Adaptive Cards.

Exporting a Knowledge-base (KB)

  1. Log into Microsoft QnA Maker.
  2. Open your knowledge-base.
  3. Go to the Settings tab.
  4. Click on the Export knowledge base button and save the .tsv file to your computer.

Importing a Knowledge-base (KB)

  1. Log into Microsoft QnA Maker.
  2. Open your knowledge-base.
  3. Go to the Settings tab.
  4. Click on the Import knowledge base button and select a .tsv KB file. Then click on the Replace button to confirm that you wish to replace the current source with the new file.
    Outcome:
This will overwrite and replace any other QnA sources not contained within the new file, such as additional files or websites that QnA pairs have been pulled from (as shown under the File name and URL lists), or custom QnA pairs made through the QnA Editor for your KB (as shown under the File name list).

Important: Importing a file by clicking on the + Add file button under the list of File names can give bad outcomes. QnA pairs that were made through the LiveTiles QnA Editor may not be stripped of special characters. Questions with JSON code might therefore be broken by the intrusion of extra characters, and therefore show as strings of plain text in the LiveTiles QnA Editor and end-user Bots products.
